Cutting IT Costs, Improving Security

After digital-services provider Inetum was acquired in 2022, its new owners called for IT to cut spending by 25% in just 18 months — and simultaneously improve both security on 28,000 endpoints across 27 countries. Inetum had been using three legacy tools, none of which could provide data in real time. These tools required manual aggregation, requiring tedious feeding of the CMDB. Also, departments couldn’t choose or install their own applications. And the tools couldn’t provide visibility into vulnerabilities. So Inetum launched a Tanium proof-of-concept (PoC) on 500 devices across five countries. This included a return-on-investment (ROI) calculation at scale to determine how Tanium could help IT cut costs. Using Tanium, Inetum discovered over 320 unused virtual servers and some 500 unused software licenses, all of which could be decommissioned. Tanium also demonstrated its ability to dramatically accelerate IT audits, vulnerability remediation, and patching. Join this session to learn how Inetum deployed Tanium on thousands of workstations in just six weeks, identified some 20,000 critical vulnerabilities, and then patched them quickly.
