Real-time Visibility in Retail with Tanium & Microsoft

Burberry known for its distinctive check pattern, operates more than 400 retail stores worldwide, and updating their point-of-sale (POS) devices was often a manual process during which the devices lacked internet access. To improve, Burberry — which already had the Tanium agent deployed in its POS environment — created Tanium Threat Response signals that sent alerts directly to the POS engineering mailbox. This also eliminated the need to involve on-premises email servers, which had previously caused additional delays. Using this custom solution, Burberry also identified three important use cases that Tanium could resolve immediately: automatic local error file deletion; SQL database memory alerting; and confirming specific file transfers important for local compliance. Tanium also aided the company’s adoption of Microsoft Defender by serving as a stop-gap during deployment and onboarding. Learn how Tanium provides insight into the company’s key configuration files, the IT team has reduced its troubleshooting process time by roughly 80%. Tanium has also helped Burberry lower costs, increase endpoint visibility worldwide, and break down organizational silos between functional teams by giving them all the same data on the same platform. The company has lowered its overall risk profile, too.
