IDC: Confidence Scores: Trust, Transparency, and AI Security in the Agentic Era
As enterprises accelerate from AI experimentation to scaled autonomous execution, the limiting factor is increasingly not model performance, but institutional trust. Confidence scores were originally developed to help security teams prioritize signal, allocate attention, and reduce operational friction. In the agentic era, the role of confidence scores becomes far more strategic. These mechanisms may serve as the decision-governance layer that determines when autonomous systems can act, when human oversight is required, and how risk is managed at machine speed. This session examines why traditional scoring approaches are no longer sufficient, which emerging risk dimensions leaders must now evaluate, and how transparent confidence architectures could become foundational to enterprise-grade AI transformation.
