What is Converge?

Converge is Tanium’s annual user conference where IT and Security professionals come together to network, gain new skills and learn new strategies for leveraging Tanium to best optimize their organization’s cybersecurity readiness and response.

Converge arms its attendees with the training, knowledge and connections needed to position one’s organization ahead of emerging threats with the use of converged endpoint management (XEM).

Where will Converge take place?

In its 7th year, Converge 2022 will be returning in-person at the Fairmont Austin in Austin, Texas. There will also be a virtual attendance option with access to live-streamed keynotes and on-demand breakout session recordings following the event. When will Converge 2022 take place?

In-Person Attendees:

For those attending In-Person Labs, Converge will begin at 10:00am CST on Monday, November 14th and conclude at 12:30pm CST on Thursday, November 17th. For all other in-person attendees, Converge will kick off with a Welcome Reception at 5:00pm CST on Monday, November 14th and conclude at 5:00pm CST on Wednesday, November 16th. Virtual Attendees:

For those tuning in virtually, Converge keynote sessions will be streamed live at their scheduled times on Tuesday, November 15th and Wednesday, November 16th. Breakout session recordings will become available after the conclusion of the event. Please refer to the Agenda page for specifics on keynote session timing.

Who attends Converge?

Converge is attended by global IT and security professionals from all sectors and departments in the cybersecurity space. Attendees include Tanium customers, partners and guests from a variety of industries, as well as Tanium employees.

Who will the Keynote speakers be?

Our Converge keynote speakers will be officially announced next month. Stay tuned for more details! 

When will breakout sessions and speakers be announced? 

Breakout sessions are set to be finalized and released to the Converge 2022 website in early September. At this same time, the Converge 2022 Agenda Builder will also become available for attendees who wish to plan their time at Converge and curate their own personalized agenda.

Will Converge 2022 sessions be available to view on-demand? 

Yes. Converge 2022 keynotes and breakout sessions will be available to view on-demand following the event for both Converge In-Person and Converge Virtual ticket holders. 

Will Labs be available to view on-demand? 

Labs will not be available to view on-demand with the exception of virtual attendees with Virtual Self-Service Labs tickets, who will have access to their selected virtual labs on November 15th and 16th. How much do Converge In-Person tickets cost?

The Converge In-Person ticket grants access to Converge keynotes, breakout sessions, meals and networking events, plus on-demand access to recordings following the event.

What add-ons are available to Converge In-Person ticket holders? 

The below ticket add-ons are available to add onto Converge In-Person base tickets for an additional fee:

How much do Converge Virtual tickets cost?

Converge Virtual tickets are free of charge and include access to live-streamed keynotes on November 15th and 16th, plus on-demand access to session recordings following the event. 

What add-ons are available to Converge Virtual ticket holders? 

Virtual Self-Service Labs can be added to Converge Virtual tickets for $199. Those with a Virtual Self-Service Labs ticket will get access to up to four (4) Labs of their choosing to take virtually on November 15th and 16th. Please refer to the Labs & CTF page for additional information on Lab session format, pricing and inclusions. 

Can I pay for my in-person or virtual ticket via check or wire transfer? 

All payments for Converge tickets must be made via credit card at the time of registration. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are all accepted credit card types. If you have any questions about payment methods, please contact [email protected].

What is the registration cancellation policy?

If you can no longer attend Converge or Hands-On Labs (in-person or virtual), you can cancel your registration by providing written notice to the Tanium Events Team by emailing [email protected].

The Converge refund policy is as follows:  

  • Cancellation on or before Sunday, October 2, 2022: Full refund of registration fee, less a $50.00 processing fee.
  • Cancellation on or after October 3, 2022: Partial refund at Tanium’s sole discretion.   

If applicable, Tanium will refund the registrant’s registration fees within sixty (60) days of receipt of the cancellation notice. No registration refunds will be provided other than through the process described here.  

How is my registration information used after I register?

Your registration information will be used in accordance with Tanium’s Privacy Policy and the Converge 2022 Terms & Conditions. If you have additional questions about how your information is used, please contact [email protected].

In-Person Labs

How much does it cost to add Hands-On Labs to my Converge ticket? 

Adding In-Person Labs to your Converge In-Person ticket costs $495.00 ($395.00 for verified government employees).

What’s included with my In-Person Labs ticket? 

The In-Person Labs ticket add-on awards registrants with choice of one of the below access options: 

  • Up to eight (8) Labs total to take in-person at Converge 
    • Nov. 14th: three (3) Labs
    • Nov. 16th: three (3) Labs
    • Nov. 17th: two (2) Labs 
  • Up to five (5) Labs total to take in-person at Converge + Capture the Flag (CTF)
    • Nov. 14th: Capture the Flag (CTF) 
    • Nov. 16th: three (3) In-Person Labs
    • Nov. 17th: two (2) In-Person Labs 

When do I need to confirm my Lab sessions by? 

In-Person Lab signups will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until 5:00pm PT on Friday, October 21, 2022 or when the Lab’s capacity is reached, whichever comes first. This policy will also apply to those who register for Labs and wish to change their selections after completing their registration.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you can attend Converge but need to cancel In-Person Labs from your ticket, you can do so by contacting [email protected]. If you can no longer attend Converge or Hands-On Labs, you can cancel your registration by providing written notice to Tanium by emailing [email protected].  

The Converge refund policy is as follows:  

  • Cancellation on or before Sunday, October 2, 2022: Full refund of registration fee, less a $50.00 processing fee.
  • Cancellation on or after October 3, 2022: Partial refund at Tanium’s sole discretion.

Can I get CEU credits once I complete an In-Person Lab? 

Yes! All Hands-On Labs are CEU credit eligible. To receive credits, you will need to opt-in to being scanned into the Lab sessions you attend at Converge. You will then receive an email approximately one month after the event concludes with instructions on how to access your CEU credit certificates. 0.2 CEU credits will be awarded for every in-person Hands-On Lab completed.

Virtual Self-Service Labs

How much does it cost to add Virtual Self-Service Labs to my Converge ticket? 

Virtual attendees can add Virtual Self-Service Labs to their Converge Virtual ticket for $199. This fee is applied in addition to the Converge Virtual base ticket cost.

What’s included with my Virtual Self-Service Labs ticket?

The Virtual Self-Service Labs ticket add-on includes access to the following:

  • Up to four (4) virtual self-service Labs to explore at your own pace on November 15th and 16th. (Lab format will include access to a recorded lecture provided by Tanium experts, followed by access to the corresponding custom-built sandbox environment.)
  • Capture the Flag (CTF) on November 14th (Pre-registration required). 

When do I need to confirm my Virtual Self-Service Lab sessions by? 

Virtual Self-Service Lab signups will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until 5:00pm PT on Friday, October 21, 2022 or when capacity is reached, whichever comes first. This policy will also apply to those who register for Labs and wish to make/change their individual Lab selections after completing their registration. 

What is the cancellation policy?

If you no longer wish to take the Virtual Self-Service Labs, you can cancel them from your Converge Virtual registration by emailing [email protected].  

The Converge refund policy is as follows:  

  • Cancellation on or before Sunday, October 2, 2022: Full refund of registration fee, less a $50.00 processing fee.
  • Cancellation on or after October 3, 2022: Partial refund at Tanium’s sole discretion.

Can I get CEU credits once I complete a Virtual Self-Service Lab? 

Yes! Virtual attendees will be awarded 0.2 CEU credits per Virtual Self-Service Lab that they complete.

Capture the Flag (CTF)

What is Capture the Flag?

Capture the Flag (CTF) is a virtual competition where teams of Tanium users race to solve a variety of competitive challenges by leveraging various Tanium Security and Risk modules. Challenges include investigations and Threat Hunting on Windows and Linux, Lateral Movement, Persistence, PowerShell Attacks, Memory Analysis, Signals Analysis, Sensors and “Living off the Land Binaries and Scripts.”

Are there any prizes for the winners of CTF? 

Yes! The top five (5) CTF teams will exclusively qualify to participate in the inaugural Escape Room competition taking place virtually on the last day of Converge (November 17th). More information about the Escape Room can be found here.

How do I sign up for CTF? 

To sign-up for CTF, add either the In-Person Labs or Virtual Self-Service Labs add-on to your base ticket and indicate your interest in participating in CTF on the Session Selection page while registering. Note that if you are attending in-person, signing up for Capture the Flag (CTF) will prevent you from selecting any in-person Labs taking place at the same time as CTF on November 14th. 

When do I need to sign-up for CTF by? 

CTF will be open for sign-ups until 5:00pm PT on Sunday, October 2, 2022. After this date, new CTF sign-ups will not be permitted. 

Who can best help me with questions related to CTF? 

Questions related to CTF registrations and sign-ups should be emailed to [email protected]. Any questions regarding CTF challenges, CTF teams or the CTF lab environment should be sent to [email protected].

I signed up for CTF during registration. What happens next? 

You will receive an email approximately six (6) weeks prior to Converge with instructions on how to confirm your CTF team captain, team name and team members. CTF teams will consist of up to four (4) team members total (including yourself) and all CTF team members must be registered for Capture the Flag (CTF) and possess an In-Person Labs or Virtual Self-Service Labs ticket. Certification Exams

Which Certification Exams will be offered at Converge 2022? 

The Tanium Certified Operator (TCO), Tanium Certified Specialist Cloud Deployment (TCSCD) and Tanium Certified Administrator (TCA) Exams will be available to take on-site at Converge 2022.

Can I take the TCA Certification Exam at Converge 2022?

You can take the TCA exam at Converge 2022 as long as you have taken and passed the Tanium Certified Operator (TCO) exam prior to registering for the TCA exam.  

Can I take the TCSCD Certification Exam at Converge 2022?

You can take the TCSCD exam at Converge 2022 as long as you have taken and passed the Tanium Certified Operator (TCO) exam prior to registering for the TCSCD exam.  

When would I get the Certification Exam results if I take the exam at Converge 2022? 

Results are available immediately. Candidates will receive a printout of their results after the exam. Successful candidates will not receive any additional information regarding exam results. Candidates who do not pass will receive additional information related to section level performance. Score reports are also available immediately via the Pearson VUE dashboard and should show up in your candidate profile in the Tanium Career Certifications portal within 48 hours of taking the exam.

How long do I get when I take the Certification Exam? 

The TCO (Tanium Certified Operator) Exam and TCSCD (Tanium Certified Specialist Cloud Deployment) Exams are each 90 minutes long. The TCA (Tanium Certified Administrator) is 150 minutes long.

I can’t make it to Austin. Can I take the Certification Exam virtually?

This is a special testing event available only to Converge onsite attendees. Exam registration is always available via our two standard delivery options available at any time:

  • In-person at a testing center
  • OnVUE Online Proctoring

I already have a voucher to take a Tanium exam, can I use it at Converge?

Absolutely, as long as the voucher does not expire prior to November 17, 2022, it can be applied to your Certification Exam fees in your Converge 2022 registration. To use an existing voucher, contact [email protected]. 

How do I book hotel accommodations for my time at Converge 2022? 

Hotel rooms are available to book at the main Converge hotel — the Fairmont Austin — at the discounted rate of $255+ USD per night (based on availability). A limited number of rooms are also available to book at the JW Marriott Austin and Hilton Austin, both within walking distance of the Fairmont Austin. How do I book my hotel room for Converge?

To book a room at any of the three hotels, use the corresponding link provided on your registration confirmation page or refer to your registration confirmation email after completing your registration. All costs, updates and changes associated with your hotel reservation for Converge 2022 are your own responsibility.

When do I need to book my hotel room by? 

To secure the discounted hotel rate, hotel reservations should be made no later than Monday, October 24, 2022 (hotel cut-off date). After this date, any rooms that may still be available can be reserved at the hotel’s going rate. 

Is there a discounted hotel rate for government employees? 

Yes. Qualifying government employees can secure hotel accommodations at the Fairmont Austin for $235+ USD per night. To book a room at this discounted rate, use the link provided in the registration confirmation email you received after your government-rate Converge registration was approved. Note that you will be required to present proof of your government employment/affiliation upon check-in.  If you’re unable to locate your confirmation email or the hotel booking link, please email [email protected].

Government rates are also available at the DoubleTree Austin University Hotel, Homewood Suites and other nearby hotels should you choose to stay elsewhere.

Can I make changes or cancel my hotel reservation after I book? 

All hotel changes and/or cancellations can be completed using the link from your hotel confirmation email or by calling the hotel directly. 

Reservation cancellations must be submitted to the hotel at least three (3) business days prior to your arrival date to avoid a penalty fee equal to 1-night room & tax.
